David Opie's distinctive illustrations have appeared in several publications, including Sports Illustrated for Kids, Weekly Reader, Rhode Island Monthly, the LA Times, the Providence Journal, and Spider Magazine. His educational clients include McGraw-Hill, Houghton Mifflin, Celebration Press, and National Geographic School Publishing.

David earned his undergraduate degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and his master's degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

He lives with his wife and dog in Chicago, where he also teaches drawing and computer graphics. This is his first picture book.
